September 2018 - Zion National Park
Zion has one of the most spectacular entrances as you approach from the east on Route 9 from Highway 89 from Mt Carmel in Southern Utah. Besides the steep cliffs, the two tunnels built in the 1920s are an amazing introduction to this national park.
We enjoyed several days of hikes in the canyon and great meals in Springdale. The “Narrows” lived up to their reputation, although we did not bring watercolor materials in with us due to the challenge of hiking through the river that was full of sediment from recent rains which hid the slippery rocks under the surface. However, we managed a few sketches in other parts of the canyon.
